Real Avenges Brutal Loss, Headed For Championship Game (Click to Read More)
Real San Juan avenged its Mother's Day loss to Aguias with a 3 - 0 victory to earn a spot in the Peri Clark Cup Championship game. With memories of the previous week's embarrassment still fresh on their minds, Real San Juan players were motivated to extend their season and end Aguias' season one game early.

Pat Nelle’s two goals against San Jose, including an impromptu bicycle kick, kept Real San Juan in the title race with Academica. Real came into the game needing a win to keep pace with the Turlock side and to shake off the cobwebs following their 1-1 draw with Santa Rosa last week.
Real Lose Late to Cruz Azul (Click to Read More)
Cruz Azul avenged a 2 - 1 loss to Real San Juan two weeks prior by defeating Real 1 - 0 with a late goal by forward Victor Lopez. The game was hard fought between both teams. Coming off of a 2 - 2 draw with Dixon Leon, Real was searching to find its winning form. Unfortunately for Real, Cruz Azul was able to withstand many quality Real scoring opportunities and capitalize late in the game.

Real San Juan faced the high-powered offense of Sporting with many regulars missing and only eleven at game time. Sporting also lacked a full substitutes' bench and started defender Ben Gale in goal. Although there were many questions about which short-handed team would win, it was evident that the game, like many previous Real/Sporting matches, would have lots of goals. Real started a little slow. Sporting's low pressure defense proved troublesome for the Real offense.

Two second half goals by Real midfielder Chris Gaschen lifted Real over an always tough Cruz Azul Sunday at Southside Park. Matches between Cruz Azul and Real San Juan are always intense battles with the west side Cruz Azul fans adding to the atmosphere. This game was no exception. Real started the match with McNulty in goal, Akinsanya, Hamilton, Mercado, and Bystrowski in the back Temblador, Gaschen, Jakubek and Cazel in the midfield and Frazelle and Nelle up top. Cruz Azul proved to be the more dangerous side with Fonseca and Victor Lopez causing problems for the Real defense. Real struggled to find their rhythm on the bumpy Southside pitch. Cruz Azul struck first with a goal on a set piece to make the score 1 - 0. Eager to equalize, Real's attempts to play penetrating balls were either snuffed by the wind or intercepted by the well-organized Cruz Azul back line. The first half ended with Cruz Azul on top and Real slightly frustrated.

Real Midfielder Captains US U-18 Men to Gold Medal (Click to Read More)
Real San Juan midfielder Amobi Okugo captained the United States U-18 team to the Gold Medal at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team took gold at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival with a dominating 5-0 victory against the hosts. Combined with a 1-1 draw against Chile in their tournament opener and an astounding 14-0 win over China U-17s, the U.S. won the four-team round robin tournament.

Real Win Testy Match Against Lincoln (Click to Read More)
Another game against Lincoln, another testy match that featured as many off the ball incidents as scoring chances. When these two teams met earlier in the season, Real had to pull one out at the death to secure a 2-1 win in Lincoln. This time around, the squad was made to work for their 2-0 victory at Southside Park.
San Juan Defeat a Feisty FC Ireland Team (Click to Read More)
Much like a similar meeting between FC Ireland and San Juan at Orangevale Park that ended up 3-2 last year, this year’s away fixture was a hard-fought 3-1 victory.

    This was the first game after the CCSL winter break and at times, it showed. Despite the choppy state of the pitch, RSJ were able to have enough possession to prove dangerous. The side welcomed two new faces to the starting lineup CSU-Sacramento central defender Adam Owens and University of New Mexico midfielder/forward Chris Wright. They joined a side who started the match with twelve players.

Patrick Nelle recorded his second brace in as many weeks to defeat a Sporting side desperate to find the top half of the CCSL Premier League table. Real began the game with the veteran back line of Madu, Mercado, Hamilton, and  Simmons. The midfield consisted of teenagers Gaschen, Okugo, Akinsanya and veteran Delgado. Nelle and Frazelle assumed the goal scoring duties up top. From the opening whistle, the speed of Nelle presented a match up problem for the Sporting defense.

The Real San Juan Youth Soccer Scholarship has been moved to December 20th. The drawing will be held 6:00 PM, Saturday, December 20th at the El Papagayo Restaurant in Carmichael. El Papagayo is located on the corner of Marconi and Fair Oaks Blvd. Winners will also be posted on RealSanJuan.org.

Real Defeat Tough Newcomers Santa Rosa (Click to Read More)
Real San Juan maintained its long unbeaten streak by defeating newly-promoted side Santa Rosa 3-0 at Southside and remained on top of the CCSL table on 12 points.

Santa Rosa came into the season with high expectations after winning the First Division last year and with added firepower this year, they remained many people’s sleeper team. Led by former Cruz Azul player/coach Jorge Fernandez, the Santa Rosa side play possession football, much like RSJ.

Real San Juan continued their winning streak by soundly defeating newly-promoted side Acoreanos of Turlock, 6-0 at Southside Park. The win puts Real at a perfect 3-0 for the season, tied in first place with AC Cruz Azul.
