San Juan Held to 0-0 Draw by CD Lobos

In the latest contest at Southside Park, CD Lobos held Real San Juan to a nil-nil draw during there early morning clash. Lobos who have earned several good results this year, is a vastly improved side from last year. The addition of several ex - Dixon Leon players has produced a more fluid style of football which is quite different from their former overtly-physical play.

For the match, RSJ would feel extremely unlucky not to put the Lobos side away with a couple goals in both halves. Defensively, RSJ welcomed the return of captain Marcos Mercado to man the center-back position in a back three formation. In between the sticks, former Chico State and California Cougars goalkeeper, Dominic Jakubek, started in place of Conor McNulty. Jakubek established himself early in the match and was rarely threatened throughout the match.

The Lobos side had chances and did well with the possession they had. Featuring two quick strikers up top, the Lobos attempted to stretch the RSJ defense throughout the match.

In the RSJ midfield, Donnie Ribaudo proved his worth once again, buzzing around the center of the park with great effectiveness. Having more men in midfield was beneficial for RSJ with Art Temblador having more freedom to roam about the pitch. Up top, RSJ forced the Lobos keeper to be on his toes throughout the match, specifically on set pieces. Striker Pat Nelle was able to use his speed to put the Lobos on the back foot, but the goals dried up in the Lobos back third.

RSJ also received solid contributions from Utodi Madu, playing right back and up top from John Jones and Jimmy Frazelle. A disappointing draw was not the result the side wanted.

Up next is arguably the game of the season thus far, pitting RSJ versus eternal rivals Cruz Azul in a battle for first place at Southside Park at 2pm.
