RSJ Welcomes Titanes To The Premier League, Wins 3 - 0Real San Juan opened the 2006 - 2007 CCSL season Sunday, October 1, with a 3 - 0 victory over the recently promoted Titanes. Lacking substitutes, the visiting Titanes from Gridley played with energy and determination. Back from playing with the California Cougars and Portland Timbers, Chad Bartlome proved to be a constant threat throughout the game. Bartlome's hard work paid off in the first half when he beat several Titanes defenders and server a perfect cross to Pat Nelle at the penalty spot. Nelle calmly slotted his shot past the keeper to put Real up 1 - 0. Titanes answered with several near misses including a header that beat Conor McNulty but hit the right post. Real increased their lead to 2 - 0 when Art Temblador found Anthony Chimienti with a penetrating ball that beat the entire Titanes back line. Chimienti collected the ball and with only the keeper to beat, opened his Real account. Back from off-season surgery, Jimmy Frazelle added the Real lead when Pat Nelle found new Real outside midfielder Keith Gilbert on the right flank. Gilbert crossed the ball to a wide open Frazelle for the third and final goal of the match.Next week, Real San Juan must travel to Escalon to face the recently promoted FC Azores. FC Azores dropped their first game 8 - 0 to Academica. |
