Real Stumbles with a 2 - 2 draw Real San Juan stumbles in the their quest to repeat as CCSL Champions with a 2-2 draw against the California Lions. Real squandered numerous goal scoring opportunities and in the end felt fortunate to earn a point with the equalizer coming within the last five minutes of the game. Real's offense started the game firing on all cylinders with a great chance created by a Sean-Michael Callahan cross to Jimmy Frazelle in the first ten seconds of the game. That near miss proved to be an omen of things to come. Real continued to create and miss chance after chance with the Lions creating the occasional chance on the counterattack. Anthony Chimienti earned a penalty kick when he was brought down in the box by a Lions defender. Ruben Mora converted the penalty kick to put Real up 1 - 0. The Real lead did not last long as the Lions capitalized on a Real turnover and quickly countered down the middle of the field for the equalizer. The Lions began the second half with renewed energy and were able to create several chances. The Lions took a 2 - 1 lead when Real failed to clear the ball on a corner and a cross found a Lions attacker open in the box. Real continued to create and squander good goal scoring opportunities and the goalkeeper for the Lions made some great saves. The "Southside bounces" proved to be troublesome for the Real players in this game. With five minutes left in the game, Connor McNulty send a long punt across the half that skimmed the top of a Lions defender's head. An opportunistic Anthony Chimienti snuck in behind the defense and popped the ball over an on rushing Lions goalkeeper. Real was able to salvage a point from the game but lose ground on Aguias PSC for first place.
