Real Repeats! 2005 - 2006 CCSL Champions

Real San Juan repeats as CCSL Champions. Real clinched the championship on Wednesday, May 10th with a 3 - 2 victory over Sacramento Sporting. Real started the game quickly by scoring within the first five minutes. Alvaro Delgado advanced the ball down the left flank, and then found Kenyon Hill at the left corner of the box. Hill lofted a perfect cross to Jimmy Frazelle on the far post. Frazelle volleyed the ball to beat the Sporting keeper.

Real followed this goal with about 40 minutes of uninspired play. Sporting midfielder Pedro Lupercio proved to be dangerous on the right side. His hard work and crosses into the Real box caused many problems for the Real defense. Sporting eventually took advantage of Real's lack of urgency and scored two goals to take a 2 - 1 lead at the half. Real began the second half with a greater sense of urgency, but the Sporting defense held strong for the first twenty minutes. Real score the equalizer from a set piece ten yards to the right of the Sporting box. Sean-Michael Callahan hit a precisely driven ball to Kyle Navarro in the middle of the Sporting box. Navarro directed the ball with his head past the Sporting keeper to make the score 2 - 2. With renewed energy and the championship within reach, Real pressed on in search of the game winning goal. Ali Managhebi assisted Ruben Mora for the winning goal. Mora was able to beat the Sporting keeper; however, a Sporting defender cleared the ball off the line. After several seconds of suspense, the assistant referee ruled that the ball was completely in the goal. The last moments of the game were exciting as Sporting was denied by the post and Real was able to hold on to the victory. The victory put Real five points ahead of Aguias PSC with just one game left to play. Congratulations and thanks go out to all the Real players, supporters, volunteers, and sponsors.
