Real Handles Team Mexico 6 - 1, Moves Back Into First

Real traveled to Woodland High School to play Team Mexico last Sunday. At the beginning of the match, Team Mexico did not look like a team facing relegation from the CCSL’s Premier Division. The action was up and down early and Team Mexico’s forwards were able to get free in the counterattack. After several missed chances by both teams, Team Mexico took a 1 - 0 lead when an errant square pass was intercepted by an opportunistic Team Mexico forward who was able to beat an isolated defender and slip a shot past Conor McNulty. It was only a matter of time before a Real goal was scored as Real forwards Jimmy Frazelle, Anthony Chimienti and Pat Nelle were able to get behind the Team Mexico defense on a regular basis. The first goal came when a through pass found Jimmy Frazelle streaking down the left side. With a defender chasing him and the goalkeeper stepping out, Frazelle calmly tucked the ball into right side of the goal to even the score 1 - 1. Real took a 2 - 1 lead when Jimmy Frazelle converted a penalty kick. Real's third goal came when Brian McGuire played a perfect ball over the Team Mexico defense to the speedy Pat Nelle who slotted the ball into the net. Ali Managhebi assisted Tim Bystrowski four Real's fourth goal. Ali Managhebi earned his second assist of the game when Alexis Alexis Maurtua ran onto a Managhebi pass and blasted a shot passed a worn Team Mexico goalkeeper. The sixth and final goal came when Kyle Navarro played a ball over the top of the defense and Anthony Chimienti softly popped the ball over the oncoming goalkeeper. With this victory and the Aguias 2 – 1 loss at Acoreanos, Real is now in first place once again. The end of the CCSL season should be a fight to thefinish as Aguias and Real San Juan still have several games to play including a head-to-head match up Tuesday, April 25th.
