- Real Earns Big Win in Turlock
Once again, Real finds a way to win and take three points in Turlock against Academica. Despite going to Turlock with 10 field players and no goal keeper, Real worked extremely hard and managed to play a very good game versus a revamped Academica team who was showcasing it's recent college player acquisitions. Real took the early lead when Chad Bartlome played a ball back to Curtis Holmes who shot a low blazing shot past the Academica keeper from 20 yards out. Academica responded within minutes as they counter attacked and scored on a breakaway. The game was deadlocked with both sides having random opportunities including two penalty kicks that were blocked by the Academica keeper to keep the game even. With five minutes to go, Pat Nelle gave Real the victory by scoring an unassisted goal from a left footed shot which sailed over the keeper and into the side netting from 25 yards out. Real's solid defense anchored by Marcos Mercado was able to hold on to the lead and seal the victory.

- Real Only Needs One Half to Score Six Goals (Click to Read More)
Looking to rebound from last week's disappointing 1 - 0 loss to San Jose, second place Real San Juan traveled to Woodland on Super Bowl Sunday to play relegation threatened Team Mexico. It seems as if some players opted to start their Super Bowl parties early with Real suiting up twelve players and Team Mexico suiting up eight. The game began slowly with Real maintaining possession, but lacking intensity and focus. Team Mexico simply tried to conserve energy, defend and find an opportunity to counter attack. The goal scoring onslaught started with Eliot Ricks-Chambers. Anthony Chimienti weaved through the Team Mexico defense and found a wide-open Ricks-Chambers for the first goal of the game.

- Aguias PSC Postpones Game (Click to Read More)
Management from Aguias PSC utilized the "72-hour" rule to postpone their much anticipated game this Sunday against Real San Juan...
- Sporting Exercising 72-Hour Rule
Sacramento Sporting decided to exercise the "72-hour" rule to cancel this Sunday's game. One can only wonder if Sporting has a legitimate reason for canceling the game. The fact that Sporting can pull up players from Sporting II to play in the game makes their decision to cancel even more suspicious. The disturbing pattern of teams only playing games when they "feel" like it will predictably lead to an even longer CCSL season. At this rate, the problem of attempting to cram a ridiculous amount of games in two weeks may occur again this season. Hopefully, CCSL officials will avoid the re-scheduling issues that forced Real to play games without key personnel because of scheduling conflicts with the NPSL. The cancellation of games in this fashion may make it difficult for the CCSL to finish the season. Would Sporting or Aguias PSC have exercised the "72-hour" rule if they were playing any other team besides Real San Juan?
