Real Beats Club Peru All-Stars 3 - 2 (Click to Read More)
Real San Juan battled Club Peru this past Sunday at Southside Park in what turned out to be a thrilling game. Club Peru of the California Premier Soccer Alliance (CPSA) showed up ready to play with 18 players, some of which were recruited as star players from other CPSA teams. The game was an excellent display of soccer for 90 minutes with a fast pace, hard challenges and good possession.
Real San Juan Loses to Aguias
Real San Juan loses its first game to first place Aguias PSC 2-1. Aguias took the initial lead 1- 0 and Ali Managhebi quickly answered with the equalizer for Real. Anchored by the excellent play of Mark Torguson and the Aguias defense, Aguias went up 2-1 and were able to withstand Real's efforts to draw level.
Real Defeats Premier Newcomers Lincoln 4 - 0 (Click to Read More)
Real San Juan displayed its depth with a clinical 4 - 0 defeat of Lincoln last Sunday, December 3rd. Despite missing several Real players out with injuries or sickness, Real played with energy and consistency throughout the match. Todd Simmons set the tone in the opening minutes of the match when he buried a poorly cleared corner kick into the back of the net to put Real up 1 - 0.
Real Edges Cruz Azul 2 - 1
Good teams find a way to win when they are not playing well. This was the case against Cruz Azul. For the second week in a row, Real struggled to finish numerous scoring opportunities. After a Cruz Azul player was sent off for a tough tackle, Real played as if the numbers were still even. Cruz Azul took the lead when a penalty kick was awarded for a hand ball. Real finally equalized when Ruben Mora assisted Jimmy Frazelle. Real continued to attack and finally took the lead with less than 3 minutes left. A scramble in the Cruz Azul box led to a Sean-Michael Callahan cross to Ali Managhebi for the winner. Next week, Real San Juan plays an always tough Academica team in Turlock.

 

Short-handed Real Stuns Dixon Leon 2 - 0 (Click to Read More)
Real San Juan traveled to Dixon with just ten players and earned a crucial 2 - 0 victory to jump back into first place in the CCSL Premier Division. Second place Sporting's still has a game in hand because Sunday'sĀ  game versus Aguias PSC was postponed . For a wide variety of reasons, Real was short players and the task of defeating a solid Dixon team who had already beaten Real earlier in the season was somewhat daunting. Real had to draw from last season's short-handed wins in the regular season and in the CCSL Cup Championship versus Dixon for inspiration.
Real Doubles Up CD Lobos 2 - 1 (Click to Read More)
Real traveled to Woodland Sunday to play a CD Lobos team eager to get back in the win column. During the first twenty minutes of the game, Real had a difficult time solving the CD Lobos "Off-side trap". CD Lobos took the early lead when a Real turnover led to a CD Lobos forward receiving a pass just inside the box. The CD Lobos forward evaded a Real defender and buried a shot from about fifteen yards. Pat Nelle and his blazing speed proved to be difficult for the CD Lobos defense to contain. NelleĀ broke off a breakaway with speed only to be fouled by the last defender about thirty yards from the goal.

In a game between two of the top teams in the CCSL, Real came out victorious over Dixon Leon by a score of 2-0 and moved into second place. Unlike its most recent starts, Real started the game on a faster note creating a number of scoring opporunities early in the game.

Real Moves into First
With Aguias PSC idle Sunday, Real's 3 - 0 defeat of San Jose moves RSJ into first place going into the holiday break. San Jose's "10 men behind the ball" strategy proved tough to break down in the first half. Former Real forward Carlos Ventura made several dangerous runs in the counter attack for San Jose. Real missed several quality opportunities to take the lead and the score remained tied at zero at halftime.

Real Turns it on in 6-2 rout of Team Mexico (Click to Read More)
Real walked away with a convincing victory this past Sunday as Pat Nelle turned on the burners. Despite starting the game with 11 players eventually getting the 12th, Real got on the board early when Kyle Navarro delivered a great ball to Keith Gilbert on the right flank. Gilbert took a shot to the far post that was deflected but followed in by Pat Nelle and scored. Right after the early lead, Real had a series of breakaway opportunities but were denied by the Team Mexico goalkeeper. Team Mexico equalized the game at about the 35th minute with a follow up header after a hard driven shot hit under the crossbar, bounced down and back up into the air. With a few minutes before half, Team Mexico scored on themselves, as the keeper slipped on a pass back header giving Real a 2-1 advantage at half.
