Aguias PSC Postpones Game
Management from Aguias PSC utilized the "72-hour" rule to postpone their much anticipated game this Sunday against Real San Juan. Initial reports indicate that Aguias PSC did not want to play the game without their goalkeeper and one other player. CCSL officials waived the requirement of signing a player a week ahead of time to allow for Aguias to sign another goalkeeper. Despite the extra time, Aguias PSC's efforts to sign another goalkeeper by Friday, February 17th failed and the league opted to grant Aguias their request to re-schedule the game. This is disappointing and let's all hope that Aguias chooses to play all the rest of their games as scheduled. The CCSL already has enough games to make-up because of rain-outs. If every team opted to re-schedule when they are missing "key" players, then very few games would get played. Real San Juan drove to Turlock and beat Academica with 10 players and a field player (Ruben Mora) in goal. Every team in the CCSL has had to play without "key" players during the course of the season. Teams in the CCSL Premier Division need to be held to a certain standard and the example given by Aguias PSC is a blemish on the Premier Division. Teams should not be allowed to re-schedule games just because a couple players are missing. Every team in the league has personnel and scheduling issues. It is each club's responsibility to plan for those issues and deal with them in the best way possible. This is blatant abuse of the "72-hour" rule.
